Cracking Glass

GROUP PROJECTS

I have worked with many community groups over the years. Most notably the ESCAPE group of Eastwood, Notts, a group for isolated elderly women, who have created a great array of stained glass panels since their inception in 1992! This was when I also started learning to work with glass, as I was involved in a multi-media project with other women musician friends. As Anaglypta we created a glorious feast of colour and original music, and the enthusiasm of the elderly women in Eastwood captured the imagination of funders, who enabled the group to exist for many projects. SeeĀ http://www.eastwoodescape.co.uk. I have worked with many groups and continue to enjoy doing so when the opportunity arises. It is a brilliant craft to work with as a group as the variety of tasks means there is a choice of jobs, and each one is essential and valued as part of the whole. And the results are stunning and enduring, colours do not fade and the structure can last over a hundred years! I particularly enjoy projects which bring diverse groups together and build the self-esteem of those who need it.
